Rehabilitation of Bridges Carrying I-84 East and Westbound in Hartford

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing the rehabilitation of bridge 03367 carrying I-84 eastbound over Exit 45, and bridges 03160A&B carrying I-84 east and westbound over Sigourney Street in Hartford. The I-84 westbound Exit 45 off-ramp shoulders will be tampered with temporary traffic barriers in stages to allow for the placement of platforms necessary to conduct work under Bridge 03367. Pin and hanger assemblies will be replaced at girder locations one at a time. Localized painting at designated girder locations will also be completed. CTDOT Project No. 0170-3548 was awarded to Rotha Contracting Company, Inc. at a cost of $6,027,924.90 on November 28, 2024, and is scheduled to be completed on September 1, 2026. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 1 in Rocky Hill. LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO Temporary traffic barriers will be installed in stages at Sigourney Street to allow for the staging of equipment for work under Bridges 03160A&B. Temporary signalization will be done at this intersection to shift traffic. Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will guide motorists through the work zone. The work schedule for this project is from 7:00 am to 5:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
