At a session of the "Yerevan City Commission on Issues of Individuals with Disabilities", participants discussed both sector-specific issues and challenges in ensuring equal rights and promoting the full inclusion of persons with disabilities in public life. The meeting was attended by representatives from various departments of the Yerevan Municipality, along with members of non-governmental organizations and invited guests.
"Our presence and the need for this Commission, show that despite ongoing legislative reforms, some issues are yet to be resolved, and in some cases, the available tools are not being used effectively. The aim of every discussion is to find practical solutions to the existing problems," said Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan, who chaired the session.
During the meeting, both completed and ongoing programs, implemented under various initiatives and aimed at making Yerevan more inclusive and accessible, were presented, with a focus on ensuring equal rights for all.
Representatives of interested NGOs also raised several sector-related issues that remain unresolved. These problems will be reviewed and considered in future programs.
