Service Alert: Republic Services Work Stoppage is Over

UNION CITY, CA, July 19, 2025 - The Republic Services work stoppage is over; a tentative agreement has been reached between the Teamsters and Republic Services.

Garbage service is resuming in Union City, Saturday, July 19, 2025.

  • Free drop-off of household garbage for Union City residents is available at the City Parking Lot #1 located on 11th Street at Decoto Road Saturday, July 19, until 3:00 p.m. Please bring proof of residency. The Union City drop-off site will be CLOSED on Sunday, July 20.
  • The drop-off service in Union City will NOT reopen on Monday, July 21 as regularly scheduled residential cart service will resume.
  • Free drop-off of household garbage is available at the Fremont Recycling and Transfer Station located at 41149 Boyce Road until Tuesday, July 22. Please bring proof of residency. The facility is open Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • It may take several days for full-service resume.
  • Compost and recycling collection services provided by Tri-CED Community Recycling are NOT impacted.
