Dallas, OR - On Tuesday, U.S. Congresswoman Andrea Salinas (OR-06) joined Dallas Mayor Rich Slack and City Manager Brian Latta to celebrate $1 million in federal Community Project Funding that Rep. Salinas secured for the City of Dallas. The funding will extend the city's sanitary sewer system to the La Creole Node, a 222-acre area that could not be developed because it lacked sewer service.
"This investment will help provide the infrastructure to unlock more land in Dallas for new housing and economic development," said Rep. Salinas. "The expanded sewer system will ensure our infrastructure keeps up with our growing communities while protecting public health and opening the door to new housing and jobs in our community. I'm proud to deliver these resources for Dallas and I will keep fighting to bring back investments that give our community room to grow."
The La Creole Node sits on the edge of Dallas but cannot support further housing or business development without a connection to the city's sewer system. Extending sewer service to the area will unlock that acreage for growth while protecting neighboring properties from potential septic failures. The $1 million federal investment, which was secured through the annual appropriations process, covers the cost of extending the city's sanitary collector sewer system to reach the node.
The same funding also supports the City of Dallas's Potable Water Reservoir Tank Project, which will construct a seismically resilient reservoir to ensure residents have a reliable potable water supply during emergencies. Both projects address critical gaps in Dallas's aging infrastructure.
