The European Alliance for Industrial Data, Edge and Cloud has published a roadmap highlighting the role of open-source cloud, edge and Internet of Things (IoT) in EU's digital sovereignty and competitiveness, as well as the Alliance's input on common trust principles.
A new thematic roadmap released today by the Cloud-Edge Industrial Working Group of the European Alliance for Industrial Data, Edge and Cloud highlights the key role that European open-source cloud, edge, and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies play in enhancing digital sovereignty and competitiveness. The European Commission also welcomes the Alliance's contributions to the European Data Innovation Board on "Common Trust Principles for interconnections in and between Cloud-Edge ecosystems, including Data Spaces".
The "Open Source Way to EU Digital Sovereignty & Competitiveness" thematic roadmap explores how Europe can enhance security, reduce costs, increase flexibility, drive innovation, and promote sustainability by embracing European Open Source technologies. The recommendations proposed in the roadmap aim at strengthening Europe's digital sovereignty, boost economic competitiveness, and improve the quality of life for its citizens.
The Alliance inputs to the European Data Innovation Board point out to gaps and open challenges with trust components and related dimensions required for establishing robust data-sharing environments, with a focus on the need for standardised frameworks that incorporate technical, organisational, operational, ethical, and regulatory considerations.
