On behalf of the Government of the United States of America, I reaffirm my solidarity with the Nicaraguan people as they mark this important national day. Nicaraguans in their homeland and those forced into exile deserve the restoration of democracy in their beloved nation. The United States will continue to support your demands for a free, fair, and democratic Nicaragua so that you might again live without fear of persecution or reprisal.
