On 3 August 2026, Ms. Somrudee Poopornanake, Director-General of the Department of European Affairs, met with H.E. Mr. Pavel Pitel, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Thailand, representatives from the Ministry of Defence's Policy and Planning Office and the Defence Industry and Energy Centre, the Defence Technology Institute, and AURA s.r.o. of the Czech Republic, along with H.E. Mr. Pichit Boonsud, Ambassador of Thailand to the Czech Republic, with a representative from the Royal Thai Embassy in Brussels participating online.
Both sides discussed cooperation to upgrade Thailand's NATO Codification System (NCS) from Tier 1 to Tier 2, as well as the obstacles and challenges facing Thailand, in order to provide Thailand with the opportunity to engage in defense equipment sales to NATO member countries and countries participating in the NCS system, crucial to promoting the development of the defense industry in accordance with government policy and positioning Thailand within the global defense supply chain. On this occasion, AURA s.r.o. presented a summary of its services in laying the foundation for software systems to enter the NCS system and training personnel in interested countries to support the use of such systems. Previously, the company has collaborated with Japan, the United Arab Emirates, Hungary and Morocco.
