DDOT Celebrates 16 Years of Expanding Sustainable Transportation Through goDCgo

(Washington, DC) -

Today, the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) celebrates the 16th anniversary of goDCgo, the District program that promotes sustainable travel options to help reduce traffic, stress on infrastructure, and air pollution. As transportation options and commuting needs continue to evolve, the District remains committed to helping people get where they need to go.

Over the past 16 years, goDCgo has made sustainable transportation more accessible and approachable for people who live, work, and play in the District. By providing complimentary transit resources and consulting services to DC organizations and commuters, goDCgo has helped drive measurable results across the city. Each year, the program helps more than 41,000 people explore smarter travel choices, resulting in:

  • 827,000 fewer vehicle miles traveled each day
  • 45,000 fewer vehicles on District roads daily
  • 597,000 fewer pounds of pollution generated each day.

"Transportation choices shape how people connect with their jobs, their communities, and the opportunities around them," said DDOT Director Sharon Kershbaum. "For 16 years, goDCgo has helped people across the District better understand their options and find ways to travel that work for their lives."

As goDCgo celebrates its Sweet 16, the program is marking the milestone with Capital Bikeshare raffles and transit-themed giveaways on social media. As the District continues to grow and evolve, goDCgo remains committed to making sustainable transportation more accessible and connecting people to the travel options that keep the city moving.
