Goodyear is excited to welcome dignitaries and thousands of visitors on opening day, including Governor Katie Hobbs.
The wait is almost over. Buc-ee's, the beloved Texas-based travel center known for its oversized stores, famous snacks, and iconic beaver mascot, is opening its first Arizona location on Monday, June 22, at I-10 and Bullard Ave. in Goodyear.
The highly anticipated opening is expected to draw visitors from across Arizona and neighboring states, with as many as 40,000 vehicles anticipated throughout opening day and the following week.
"We are incredibly excited that Buc-ee's chose Goodyear as its newest home," said Mayor Joe Pizzillo. "Their investment highlights the powerful economic momentum driving our city forward. This project brings new jobs, new visitors, and new opportunities for our community. We can't wait to welcome travelers who come for the iconic Buc-ee's experience and discover why Goodyear is one of the fastest-growing, most dynamic cities in the nation. While they're here, we encourage visitors to explore our vibrant downtown at Goodyear Civic Square, enjoy our local restaurants and businesses, and experience everything that makes Goodyear such a special place to live, work, and visit."
"We could not have picked a better location for our first store in the Grand Canyon State. Perfectly placed for our road-trippers headed out to California or coming in for the destination-rich Phoenix area, Goodyear will be the place to stop," said Stan Beard of Buc-ee's.
Goodyear Mayor Joe Pizzillo, councilmembers, and City Manager Bryan Langley are eager to welcome other local dignitaries, including Governor Katie Hobbs, who will be speaking at the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
"Buc-ee's opening its first Arizona location in Goodyear is a big win for the West Valley and another sign of Arizona's strong economic momentum," said Governor Hobbs. "Buc-ee's is more than a stop along I-10; it's a destination, whether people are coming for Beaver Nuggets, brisket, or a break on the road. This new location will create jobs, bring more visitors to the region, and add to the energy we're seeing across one of the fastest-growing parts of our state. We're excited to welcome Buc-ee's to Arizona and celebrate this investment in Goodyear's future."
Buc-ee's Grand Opening
1001 N. Bullard Avenue, Goodyear, AZ
Monday, June 22
6 a.m.: Doors Open
8 a.m.: Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony - streamed live on the city's social media channels
Anyone going to Buc-ee's during the first weeks of opening should anticipate heavy traffic and long wait times and treat it like a major event rather than a quick stop. Buc-ee's traffic must exit I-10 at Bullard Avenue to enter the 6.5-mile traffic route into the store parking lot (full-sized map attached). A special podcast will also be available for guests to tune into while waiting in traffic, providing important information about getting to Buc-ee's and important safety reminders, which will be accessible through the city's Buc-ee's Grand Opening website.
Visitors are encouraged to plan ahead and be prepared for Arizona's intense summer heat. Expect periods of waiting both in vehicle traffic and outdoors, often with limited shade. Hats, sunscreen, sunglasses, and light, breathable clothing are strongly recommended. Attendees may spend extended time outside, including potentially long waits before the ribbon cutting. Out-of-state visitors should be aware that Arizona's heat can feel significantly more intense than they may be used to.
