Congressman Eric Sorensen Announces Fire Prevention Grant for City of Sterling

STERLING, IL - Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17) is proud to announce the City of Sterling has been awarded $138,788 through the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) Fiscal Year 2024 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program.

The funding will support operations and safety improvements, helping ensure local firefighters have the tools and resources needed to protect the Sterling community.

"These federal investments help make sure our firefighters can do their jobs safely and effectively," said Congressman Sorensen. "This grant strengthens public safety in Sterling and supports the men and women who put themselves on the line every day."

FEMA completed awarding FY24 fire grants in September 2025, with recipients now posted publicly on the agency's website. These programs provide critical support to fire departments and communities across the country.
