Utah Legislature’s Website Receives 2026 NCSL Online Democracy Award

WASHINGTON, D.C.-The National Conference of State Legislatures has named the Utah Legislature's official website the recipient of the 2026 Online Democracy Award, recognizing the platform for strengthening public access to government and improving citizen participation.

NCSL's Online Democracy Award is presented annually to a legislature, legislative chamber or caucus whose website makes democracy accessible in an outstanding way. The winning website is chosen by a committee of legislative staffers who evaluate each site's design, content and technological integration.

The Utah Legislature's website earned recognition for its intuitive and well-organized design. The committee praised the site's accessibility features, interactive "My Legislature" calendars and thoughtfully designed bill pages, which allow users to easily track legislation, meetings and district information directly from the homepage across desktop and mobile devices.

The Online Democracy Award is sponsored by two of NCSL's nine professional staff associations: the National Association of Legislative Information Technology and the Legislative Information and Communications Staff.

Previous winners of the NCSL Online Democracy Award include the Washington State Legislature (2025), New Mexico Legislature (2024), Louisiana Legislature (2023), Washington Legislature (2022), Georgia General Assembly (2021), Minnesota Legislature (2020), North Carolina Legislature (2019), Massachusetts Legislature (2018), Alaska Legislature (2017), New York Senate (2016), Tennessee Legislature (2015), Utah Legislature (2014), Massachusetts Legislature (2013), Hawaii Legislature (2012), Florida Senate (2011), Washington Legislature (2010), Tennessee General Assembly (2009), Texas Legislature (2008), New Jersey Legislature (2007), Minnesota Legislature (2006) and the Utah Legislature (2005).
