City of Southfield announces the winners of the 8th Annual Southfield Photo Prize Competition

The city of Southfield announced the winners of the 8th Annual Photo Prize Competition at an award ceremony on September 19 at City hall.

The first place winner was Robert Schmidt with over 1,650 votes for his photo of the Southfield Town Center. Second place was awarded to Darren Hood for his photo of the SFLD sign on the Southfield Municipal Campus, and third place was awarded to Michael Beneson for his photo of the Southfield Public Library.

The city of Southfield sponsored the 8th annual Southfield Photo Prize competition and outdoor exhibition this past summer to showcase the natural and architectural beauty throughout the city. A total of 159 submissions were received and initially reviewed by the Total Living Commission which selected the top 25 photos that were eligible for public voting from July 1 - September 1. The Photo Prize finalists pictures were enlarged and placed on public display throughout the summer at the parks & recreation building with online voting at www.cityofsouthfield.com. Over 3,750 unique votes were cast in the contest. The results were determined by the most overall online votes each finalist received.

"The 2024 Southfield Photo Prize has once again highlighted the incredible talent within our community," commented Southfield Mayor Dr. Ken Siver. "The winning photographs not only showcase artistic excellence but also tell compelling stories about our city's vibrant culture and landscapes. Congratulations to the winners for their outstanding imagery and photography skills and for capturing the heart of Southfield so beautifully."
