American College of Physicians Troubled by ACIP Committee Selection Process

Statement attributable to:
Jason M. Goldman, MD, MACP, FPCP (Hon.)
President, American College of Physicians

WASHINGTON, D.C., June 9, 2025-The American College of Physicians (ACP) is greatly concerned with the most recent development regarding the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) composition and the selections made by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kennedy. The usual ACIP committee process requires rigorous vetting, disclosures of interest and should involve physicians and scientists with extensive background in vaccine research and medicine. The speed with which these members were selected, and the lack of transparency in the process, does not help to restore public confidence and trust, and contributes to confusion and uncertainty. We ask the Secretary to halt these actions, restore the previous committee members, and have a more transparent process moving forward to address any concerns.
