The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) posted a video on April 17, 2026, to educate hospice providers on service intensity add-on (SIA) payments. The SIA allows hospices to bill for additional registered nurse and social worker visits during the last seven days of a patient's life in addition to the standard daily reimbursement.
