Dallas ISD News: Dallas ISD students to receive free meals and snacks in after-school programs

NEWS RELEASE
For Immediate Release: Oct. 23
, 2025

DALLAS - Dallas ISD's Food and Child Nutrition Services will continue the At-Risk Afterschool Meals component of the Child and Adult Care Food Program for the 2025-2026 school year. The CACFP provides reimbursements for meals and snacks served to students, ages 18 and under, participating in afterschool programs. This means that Dallas ISD students who participate in after-school programs at their local schools can receive a free snack or supper. The goal of the CACFP is to promote the development of good eating habits and to integrate nutritious food service into programs that extend beyond the regular school day. Receiving nutritious meals at a young age, as well as being physically active, is critical to the establishment of positive lifelong habits.
