Starting May 1, Institutional Support Services (ISS) is rebranding to Campus Environments & Services (CES), a name that more clearly reflects the organization's role at The University of New Mexico.
CES is the primary administrative division responsible for the university's land, facilities, and a broad portfolio of campus services. The organization oversees 17 units that collectively support daily campus operations and help shape the overall campus experience. While the name is changing, the scope of work and services provided remain the same.
The rebrand was driven by a desire to more accurately represent the organization's impact and connection to campus. The effort was led by the CES marketing and communications team, and was informed by feedback from students, staff, and university leadership.
"Our work is about people and place," said Shawna Wolfe, vice president for UNM CES. "We are responsible for the environments and essential services that shape the daily campus experience."
An initial study found that the previous name was not widely understood across the campus or within the broader community. This lack of clarity often led to confusion about the organization's role and responsibilities. Insights from this work confirmed the need for a name that more clearly communicates purpose, and strengthens alignment with the university's mission.
Information about Campus Environments & Services and its units can be found at ces.unm.edu. The website serves as a central resource for exploring services, connecting with departments, and staying informed about campus initiatives.
