STEM Day announcement marks beginning of broader community investment
SUSSEX, Wis. - ATC is proud to announce its investment in a new outdoor STEM classroom at Maple Avenue Elementary School in Sussex. This space, anticipated for completion in spring 2026, will support hands-on learning and inspire the next generation of STEM leaders. The announcement of this new space on STEM Day is significant; it marks the first in a series of educational investments ATC plans to make in the communities we serve.
"Investing in the next generation of STEM leaders is a source of pride for ATC," said ATC Corporate Affairs Manager Axel Owen. "This outdoor STEM classroom will transform the student experience by focusing on their development into active problem-solvers. Students will learn to pivot and improve in a hands-on way."
This outdoor STEM classroom, referred to as the Engineering Garden, is a part of a broader investment from ATC. As a company, we are committed to fostering environments that encourage growth, creativity and collaboration. The new space will include outdoor seating and a large work bench providing ample space for students to complete solar-powered experiment kits, car building kits and other engineering design challenges.
"This outdoor classroom gives our students a chance to see how science, technology, engineering and math connect to the real world. It's an incredible resource that will encourage experiential learning for our young people," said Mike Fraundorf, a math and science teacher at Maple Avenue Elementary School.
"At ATC, we don't just power homes and businesses-we power possibilities by energizing the education of future STEM leaders, said Owen. "With this initiative, ATC continues its mission to strengthen communities through innovation, education and opportunity. We are helping prepare today's students to be leaders of tomorrow."
ATC plans to announce additional partnerships and projects in the coming months.
