The UNFCCC 29th Conference of the Parties will be held from November 11 to 22, 2024, in Baku, Azerbaijan. Focused on advancing the goals of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Paris Agreement, the 29th Conference of Parties (COP29), will discuss the efforts to limit global warming, adapt to the impacts of climate change, and mobilize financing for these activities.
CGIAR Climate Impact Platform is strategically coordinating CGIAR's participation at COP29, ensuring our science and insights shape climate discussions on a global scale. Through five dedicated workstreams-Country Engagement, Evidence, Coalitions and Negotiations, Events and Communications, and Innovative Finance and Resource Mobilization-the platform has streamlined CGIAR's involvement in key COP29 activities and UNFCCC processes.

Key Events and Highlights for COP29
Pavillion Events: At the Food & Agriculture Pavilion, CGIAR and FAO will create a platform for collaborative dialogue, knowledge sharing, and decision-making on the unique role of agriculture and food systems in the fight against climate change.
A total of 44 events will be hosted at the Pavilion, with 28 being CGIAR-led and 16 partner-led events. These will include sharing efforts to drive adaptation and reduce emissions across food, land, and water systems to ensure food, nutrition, and water security for the most affected small-scale producers and food-insecure communities through targeted adaptation strategies. The UNFCCC also approved 8 official side events for CGIAR. CGIAR Climate Impact Platform will lead on one of them.
