MALAYSIA STRONGLY CONDEMNS PROVOCATIVE INCURSION INTO AL-AQSA MOSQUE

COMPOUND BY ISRAELI EXTREMISTS AND OFFICIALS

Malaysia strongly condemns the mass incursion into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound by more than 4,200 Israeli settlers and far-right extremists, including the participation of an Israeli Zionist regime minister, under the protection of the regime's occupying forces on 23 July 2026.

The deliberate and provocative act of storming Islam's third holiest site, accompanied by restrictions imposed on Palestinian worshippers and the conduct of unauthorised religious activities within the compound, constitutes a blatant violation of the historical and legal status quo governing the Holy Site. Such actions also represent a grave breach of international law and relevant United Nations resolutions concerning the status of Occupied East Jerusalem.

Malaysia views this reckless provocation as part of a continued pattern of violations and escalatory actions by the Israel Zionist regime in Occupied East Jerusalem, aimed at undermining the sanctity of the Holy Site and altering its historical, legal, and demographic character. These actions not only threaten regional peace and stability but also disregard the religious sensitivities of Muslims worldwide.

Malaysia calls upon the international community, particularly the United Nations Security Council, to take urgent and concrete measures to ensure Israel ceases all provocative actions and violations against the Al-Aqsa Mosque. The sanctity of Islamic holy sites must be respected and preserved, and the rights of Muslim worshippers to access and perform religious obligations at the Holy Site must be guaranteed.

Malaysia reaffirms its unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people and its steadfast support for their inalienable rights, including the right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
