During her working visit to Poland, Prime Minister Inga Ruginienė met with the country's Prime Minister, Donald Tusk. At the meeting in Warsaw, the two leaders discussed key bilateral priorities such as security and defence, support for Ukraine, joint infrastructure and energy projects, and other issues.

"I am visiting Warsaw immediately after my trip to Ukraine, which continues to defend itself against Russian aggression. For me, both of these visits are not only symbolic or just about our geographical proximity - they are about the essential connections between our countries in many fields, and about our indivisible security, which calls for the closest possible cooperation. Lithuania and Poland are strategic partners who are strongest when they act together. Security and defence, energy, projects important for connectivity and military mobility, active and expanding economic ties, and our shared historical and cultural heritage - in all of these vital areas, Lithuania regards Poland as a critically important partner, like-minded ally and friend," said Prime Minister I. Ruginienė.

As the number of airspace violations caused by Russia continues to rise across the region, the importance of working together to strengthen air defence and to prevent such incidents in the future was underlined during the meeting. In this context, I. Ruginienė highlighted the great value of Poland's ongoing participation in the NATO Air Policing Mission.

The Lithuanian Prime Minister also stressed that support for Ukrainians defending themselves from aggression must go hand in hand with learning from Ukraine's experience and capabilities, particularly in counter-drone defence - a topic that received much attention during her recent visit to Ukraine.

Major joint projects of significant scope and importance - "Rail Baltica", "Harmony Link", and "Via Baltica" - are of strategic importance for Lithuania, and their smooth implementation remains a priority for the 20th Government.

Economic cooperation with Poland is also highly significant for Lithuania, and I. Ruginienė expressed appreciation for the major investments in Lithuania by companies such as "Orlen".

The Prime Minister noted that the partnership between the two countries could be further strengthened through the resumption of joint meetings between the Lithuanian and Polish governments, as well as trilateral meetings of the Lithuanian, Polish, and Ukrainian prime ministers within the Lublin Triangle format.

The meeting also highlighted that close ties between the two nations are further reinforced by active communities contributing to both states - the Polish community in Lithuania and the Lithuanian community in Poland.

Other topics discussed included combating illegal, instrumentalised migration, strengthening sanctions against Russia and Belarus, and Lithuanian-Polish cultural ties.
