IWD 2026: ABU Members Champion Rights, Justice and Action for Women

Across the Asia-Pacific and beyond, members of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) marked International Women's Day 2026 with meaningful programmes and initiatives that highlighted the voices, resilience, and achievements of women. Celebrated under the global theme "Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls," this year's observance called for concrete steps to dismantle discriminatory laws, strengthen protections, and ensure that women and girls can fully exercise their rights.

The theme underscores a global reality: despite progress, women worldwide still hold only about 64% of the legal rights afforded to men, highlighting the continued need for action and advocacy.
