CANYON, Texas - For a second consecutive year, the West Texas A&M University Print Shop won major recognition for its work, scoring four awards from an internationally recognized program.
The WT Print shop won a gold, a silver and two bronze awards from In-Plant Impressions and the In-Plant Printing and Mailing Association, the association announced March 27.
"We're incredibly proud to be recognized by IPMA and for the second year in a row," said Meghan Watts, manager of University print services. "Earning four In-Print Awards this year following last year's gold award reflects the talent, creativity and dedication of both our professional staff and student team members. We're committed to delivering impactful print solutions for our campus while also providing hands-on learning opportunities that help our students grow and succeed."
A handout for Fall Gather, a student-run celebration of the regional agriculture industry, won a gold In-Print Award in the Small Shop-Flyers category.
The mailer for The Arts at WT: A Subscription Series, advertising a series of events for the Sybil B. Harrington College of Fine Arts and Humanities, won a silver award in the Small Shop-Brochures category.
A "Lead. Innovate. Transform." brochure for the Department of Education and sobriety chips for the Buff Cares program for students in substance abuse recovery each won bronze awards in Small Shop-Brochures and Small Shop-Wide Format categories, respectively.
"The In-Print Awards are among the most competitive in the in-plant industry, with hundreds of entries from leading universities, healthcare systems and global organizations," said Dr. De'Arno De'Armond, associate vice president for University branding and chief marketing officer. "This recognition reflects the quality, craftsmanship, and collaboration of the WT Print Shop team, University designers, and the campus partners we are proud to support."
WT competed against such entities as Vanderbilt University, Nestle Purina PetCare, the American Academy of Family Physicians and others.
The WT Print Shop is part of the Department of Communication and Marketing in WT's Office of Philanthropy and External Relations.
Team members included Watts; Dwanya James, University senior graphic designer; Michelle Martinez de la Torre, University senior graphic designer; Bob Baack, Print Shop technician; Catherine Vo, Print Shop designer; and Amanda Hibbard, Print Shop promotional products specialist. Student Print Shop workers are Beth Adler, a senior graphic design major from Alamogordo, New Mexico; Tasia Brown, a senior graphic design major from Amarillo: Jerry Jakpa, a graduate student in computer information systems from Warri, Nigeria; and Valerie Ramirez, a senior graphic design major from Amarillo.
A commitment to quality is a key principle of the University's long-range plan, WT 125: From the Panhandle to the World.
That plan is fueled by the historic One West comprehensive fundraising campaign, which reached its initial $125 million goal 18 months after publicly launching in September 2021. The campaign, which is now winding down, has raised more than $175 million.
