Winnipeg, MB - At 9:35 p.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2026, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey rooming house in the 100 block of Austin Street North.
When crews arrived on scene, they found smoke coming from the residence. They launched an interior fire attack, declaring the fire under control at 10:01 p.m.
Initial reports indicated there may be a resident trapped in the building. Firefighters searched the structure and confirmed that all occupants had safely self-evacuated prior to their arrival. No injuries were reported.
The City's Emergency Social Services team was dispatched to the scene to provide temporary support to the displaced residents.
The fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not available.
