WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Senators Jacky Rosen (D-NV) and Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) announced that Las Vegas will be receiving $5 million in federal funding to support the construction of the Eastside Education and Training Center. This funding, from the U.S. Department of Commerce's Economic Development Administration (EDA), will help construct a new facility at the College of Southern Nevada in partnership with the city of Las Vegas to provide skills training in advanced manufacturing, health care, logistics, and information technology, as well as traditional sectors like construction and HVAC. The project is anticipated to create more than 3,400 jobs and leverage $530 million in private investment, helping to strengthen and diversify Nevada's local and regional economy.
"Nevada's economy depends on highly-skilled workers who can meet the demands of growing industries," said Senator Rosen. "That's why we are pleased to have secured this federal funding to support the Eastside Education and Training Center and help train Nevadans for good-paying jobs in fields like health care, technology, and advanced manufacturing. I'll always work across party lines to ensure Nevada workers have access to the education and skills training they need."
"The Eastside Training project between College of Southern Nevada and City of Las Vegas will help Nevadans hone their skills and prepare for the economy of the future," said Senator Cortez Masto. "Thanks to this federal funding we've fought for, Nevadans will have greater access to training in critical industries like manufacturing and health care that will create jobs and support economic growth in the Silver State. We'll continue to work together to expand and improve local workforce development opportunities."
Senators Rosen and Cortez Masto have worked to deliver meaningful results for Nevada's workers and families. In May 2025, they led the charge in passing the No Tax on Tips Act, bipartisan legislation eliminating taxes on tips and providing critical tax relief for Nevada's hardworking service industry employees. In March, Senator Rosen supported bipartisan bills to expand career training opportunities in high-demand industries, helping prepare Nevadans for the jobs of the future. And in July, Senator Rosen announced $4 million in federal funding for registered apprenticeships and workforce development programs in Northern Nevada.
