The Thrive at Five Yoga and Mindfulness Series, held this past summer at the new Orchard Hill Pavilion, has been extended into the fall semester.
Thrive at Five allows students, faculty and staff to close out their day with guided yoga and mindfulness practices in a welcoming outdoor setting designed to foster both reflection and community. These additional sessions will allow the campus community to continue prioritizing wellness and connection as the academic year unfolds.
The series was designed with UMass's broader commitment to promoting holistic wellbeing in mind, and the results were clear as the community responded with enthusiasm, consistently filling the pavilion throughout the summer months.
Since its first session, Thrive at Five has drawn strong attendance and enthusiastic participation, with participants braving the rain and summer heat to share in the practice. Attendees gather under the open-air pavilion to stretch, breathe and center themselves, surrounded by the natural beauty of campus. The combination of movement and mindfulness provides an accessible way for participants to recharge, reduce stress and invest in their overall wellbeing.
More than a wellness initiative, the series has become an opportunity to build connection across campus roles and experiences. Students practice alongside faculty and staff, creating a sense of shared purpose and belonging that extended beyond each class. As one participant says, "It's not just yoga-it's a reminder that we're all here together, taking care of ourselves and each other."
