Man Deceased After Shooting In North Portland

A man was shot and killed in the Portsmouth neighborhood this morning. Portland Police responded to a call of shots being fired and was notified while enroute that a man was injured. Police arrived at the scene and attempted life-saving measures, but the man died.

A man has been shot and killed in the Portsmouth neighborhood.
On Sunday, July 20, 2025, at 11:04 a.m., officers from the North Precinct responded to the 9300 block of North Newman Avenue on reports of a shooting. When officers arrived at the location, they found a male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Despite a sergeant's efforts to provide life-saving measures, the man died at the scene.
Portland Police Bureau Homicide detectives have responded to the scene to investigate. During the investigation, North Newman Avenue will be closed between North Newark Street and North Fessenden Street.
The identity of the victim will be released after the Medical Examiner has confirmed the cause of death and after family members have been notified. The PIO is not responding to the scene. More information will be released when appropriate.
