Dingell Introduces Resolution Recognizing the Importance of Continuous Care for Patients Undergoing Cancer Treatment on Medicaid

U.S. Representative Debbie Dingell (D-MI-06) introduced a resolution to recognize the importance of protecting continuous Medicaid coverage for individuals who are undergoing cancer treatment. Interruption to health coverage during cancer treatment can create unnecessary risk and hardship for patients. More than 75% of individuals undergoing cancer care have delayed or skipped vital treatment due to administrative issues with third-party systems. In many states, cancer patients are required to repeatedly verify their medical circumstances, even when state Medicaid programs already hold the necessary information. Streamlining Medicaid processes and reducing these hurdles is essential to ensuring support for those receiving cancer treatment.

"No one fighting cancer should ever have to pause or skip lifesaving treatment because of bureaucratic red tape. Forcing patients to jump through redundant administrative hoops creates unnecessary hardship and puts lives at risk. This resolution recognizes the importance of continuous coverage so that patients on Medicaid can focus on what matters most: their health and recovery."
