ADM Enhances Employees’ Regulatory Knowledge with Multi-Language, Centralized Learning

ADM, a global leader in human and animal nutrition and the premier agricultural origination and processing company, partnered with us to deliver a multi-language, centralized learning program. This initiative helped train and upskill employees to meet critical quality and food safety regulatory requirements across various regions while ensuring practical application of their new knowledge.

Tailored training to meet global and local needs

Recognizing the importance of professional development and retention, we designed a focused, blended learning program tailored to ADM's needs. This program provided standardized training that employees could apply in their daily roles, with managers reinforcing and recognizing the knowledge gained post-training.

Key features of the solution included:

  • Virtual instructor-led training (VILT) for over 600 employees across more than 15 countries in 6 languages
  • eLearning courses translated into 12 languages to ensure comprehensive understanding
  • Exams and "go-do" activities that enabled employees to apply their learning immediately
  • Manager checkpoints to help supervisors reinforce training outcomes

A centralized solution for a global workforce

Our Learning Management System (LMS) streamlined the program's delivery by managing course scheduling, learner enrollment and evaluations. Employees accessed final tests, certificates and feedback through the platform, ensuring seamless participation.

Throughout the project, regular collaboration between us and ADM ensured alignment, with discussions covering progress updates, feedback and planning for upcoming training sessions. Attendee satisfaction was high, with all participants rating the program as either "Very Satisfied" (5/5) or "Satisfied" (4/5).

Why ADM partnered with us

Mickey Steffeny, Global Director of Quality Management System Learning and Adoption at ADM, said: "We don't just send people to training to 'fix them,' or 'check a regulatory compliance box.' We want the knowledge learned to be practical and applied from day one at work. Supervisors must understand what their team members should be able to do differently after training. This reinforcement has always been a gap in learning, but SGS helped us close it. The SGS team was passionate about our goals and brought this approach to life."

Delivering measurable results

ADM has already seen significant benefits from the training. Completion rates increased by 35%, and employees have improved their handling of HACCP plans, RCAs and CAPAs.

Mickey Steffeny added: "Our teams are asking for the SGS training calendar for 2025 because they see the value in this program. SGS has been a true thought partner, helping us organize this process in ways our teams find invaluable."

A trusted partner in training and development

Sinziana Buliarca, International Account Manager at SGS Academy, said: "This collaboration deepened our understanding of ADM's needs and allowed us to provide a centralized yet locally adaptable training solution. Supporting ADM employees in applying their knowledge has been where we truly added value."
