Governor Kotek visits Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians

Oregon Governor Tina Kotek recently completed her commitment to visit all nine federally recognized Tribal nations this year with her last stop being at the Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians. Part of Governor Kotek's visit included a meeting with the Cow Creek Tribal Veteran Services Office.

Helping lead this section of the Tribal tour was Tribal Veteran Services Officer Matthew Case who led Governor Kotek through the Village Station to meet with social services, family services, case workers, advocates, and department staff.

The Oregon Department of Veterans' Affairs' (ODVA) partners with partners with counties, Tribal nations, and national service organizations to provide veterans and their families these free, confidential, and critically important services that are accessible in every corner of Oregon.

Oregon is proud to offer veterans a robust network of veteran services offices accessible in all 36 counties and on four Tribal lands across the state for free.

An estimated 3,128 of Oregon veterans are American Indian and Alaska Native, representing Oregon's nine federally recognized and non-recognized Tribes. Tribal members have one of the highest records of military service per capita of any ethnic group, and Native American communities in Oregon have a long and rich history of honoring and supporting all veterans.

Working with Oregon's Tribes, ODVA continues to appreciate Tribal sovereignty and strong partnerships, providing annual Tribal veteran advocate training while supporting outreach events that honors Tribal veterans and raises awareness of veterans' benefits, programs and services across the state.
