To ask the Minister for Health in each of the past five years, what is the number of in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) embryos discarded due to (i) divorce between couples and (ii) death of a spouse.

Answer

MOH does not track the number of IVF embryos discarded due to divorce between couples or death of spouse.

2 If the Assisted Reproduction (AR) centres are informed of such circumstances, the embryo(s) will be donated or discarded in accordance with the couple's written instructions obtained before embryo(s) storage.
