Senator Marshall Applauds Trump Administration’s $8 Billion in Relief for Farmers Facing High Diesel Costs

Wichita - U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. (R-Kansas), applauded President Trump's announcement of $8 billion in relief for American farmers through the U.S. Department of Agriculture's new Harvest Fuel Relief Program. The announcement follows Senator Marshall's September letter to USDA Secretary Rollins urging the Trump Administration to provide temporary, targeted relief for farmers and ranchers facing soaring diesel costs during the 2026 harvest season.

"To every Kansas farmer who kept harvesting through soaring diesel costs: help is on the way. After hearing directly from Kansas farmers about the strain these rising diesel costs were putting on their operations, we brought these concerns directly to President Trump and Secretary Rollins, urging them to provide relief," said Senator Marshall."This $8 billion in support is headed to the men and women who feed and fuel this country. Thank you, President Trump, for standing with our farmers, and thank you to our Kansas farmers for never quitting."

In his September letter, Senator Marshall urged USDA to help farmers manage soaring diesel costs during the 2026 harvest, when fuel expenses were putting additional pressure on agricultural operations.

The Harvest Fuel Relief program will provide $8 billion in one-time payments to American farmers to help offset a portion of modeled losses during the 2026 crop year amid market disruptions and rising input costs. USDA will use a uniform formula based on planted acres, production costs, and crop yields and prices to determine support, with commodity-specific payment rates expected in November.

Senator Marshall thanked President Trump and Secretary Rollins for recognizing the challenges facing America's agricultural producers and taking steps to help ensure Kansas farmers can continue doing what they do best - feeding and fueling our nation.
