Consumer Brands Applauds Passage of Louisiana Senate Bill 57

Arlington, Va. - Consumer Brands Association released the following statement from John Hewitt, senior vice president of state affairs, following the passage of Louisiana Senate Bill 57:

"The Consumer Brands Association commends Governor Landry and Senator McMath for their continued leadership on ensuring Louisianans have access to in-depth ingredient information while keeping consumer packaged goods products affordable and accessible. Senate Bill 57 not only helps keep costs down but delivers on the CPG industry's commitment to consumer transparency, through tools such as SmartLabel, which is well-equipped to deliver detailed ingredient information through the scan of a QR code. The bill protects Louisiana consumers from the imminent rising costs of a state patchwork approach of labeling rules while highlighting the urgent need for national uniformity on ingredient safety and transparency. The makers of America's trusted household brands remain committed to working with Louisiana lawmakers to continue providing safe, affordable and convenient product choices for all consumers."
