When Ava Kruse first arrived at Concordia Texas, she was still figuring out where she fit. What once felt like just another university has gradually become something much more meaningful.
The campus now feels like home. It's a place where she feels safe, supported, and comfortable being herself. That sense of belonging didn't happen by accident. Trailblazers played a key role in helping her get there.
Through the program, Ava was able to move from simply being a student to becoming an active member of the Concordia Texas community. It helped her connect with others and gave her the confidence to navigate campus with a stronger sense of purpose and familiarity.
Trailblazers is designed to help new students build community from day one. Through shared experiences, peer connections, and guided campus engagement, students gain the confidence to navigate college life while forming meaningful relationships that last beyond their first semester.
Students in the program may also be eligible for a Trailblazers scholarship, along with access to specialized workshops, academic planning, financial literacy support, and campus resources that strengthen both academic success and personal growth.
Explore the Trailblazers ProgramAcademically, Ava has set a clear goal for herself this semester. She is aiming for straight A's. She understands that her success reflects the effort and dedication she puts into her work, and she is committed to maintaining a high standard in every class.
One of the biggest lessons Ava has learned this semester is how to stay motivated when things begin to feel overwhelming. College can bring pressure and busy schedules, but she has developed a way to stay focused.
She reminds herself of her "why." By focusing on the progress she has already made and the goals she is working toward, she is able to keep moving forward even during challenging moments.
Right now, Ava is especially excited about completing her final research paper. She has invested a significant amount of time, effort, and thought into the project.
For her, finishing the paper represents more than just turning in an assignment. It reflects everything she has learned throughout the semester and the work she has put in to get there. Seeing it all come together brings a strong sense of accomplishment.
Looking ahead, Ava wants to continue building habits that support her success. The most important habit she is focusing on is discipline.
Rather than leaving tasks until the last minute, she is working to stay ahead of her schedule. This approach helps reduce stress while protecting both her academic performance and her well-being.
Her priorities have also shifted. Compared to last semester, she is more focused on long-term excellence instead of simply getting through her classes.
Ava encourages new students to lean into the community around them. Getting involved early, especially through programs like Trailblazers, can make a big difference.
It helps turn a large campus into a smaller, more supportive environment where students can build friendships and feel like they truly belong.
Ava Kruse's journey reflects growth, determination, and a strong sense of purpose. Through connection, discipline, and a commitment to her goals, she is building a foundation that will support her long after this semester.
Finding your place in college starts with connection. Programs like Trailblazers are designed to help you step into community, build confidence, and create a strong foundation for success from your first semester through graduation.
