Menendez Announces $1.41 Million in Federal Funding for North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue Firehouse Modernization

WEST NEW YORK, NJ - Today, Congressman Rob Menendez, North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue ("NHRFR") Board Chairman and Weehawken Mayor Richard Turner, and NHRFR Chief David Donnarumma announced $1,410,000 in Community Project Funding to modernize NHRFR's network of firehouses serving Union City, West New York, North Bergen, Weehawken, and Guttenberg.

"The $1,410,000 we are delivering for North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue will ensure that our firehouses are fully modernized and equipped to support the critical work our first responders do every day," said Congressman Menendez. "Securing this funding was a top priority for our office as it will ensure we continue to keep our communities safe. I am proud to continue to uplift and support our first responders and thankful for their commitment to protecting our neighbors."

"North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue steps up every single day to protect our communities and this $1,410,000 in federal funding will enable them to continue their critical mission with fully modernized firehouses," said North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue Board Chair and Weehawken Mayor Richard Turner. "Thank you to Congressman Rob Menendez for securing this funding and partnering with us to help ensure that our residents always get the dedicated and prompt service that they need and deserve when emergencies occur."

"Modernizing our firehouses is an essential investment in public safety, operational readiness, and long-term community resilience," said North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue Chief David Donnarumma. "It reflects our commitment to protecting the community by preparing firefighters with the proper tools, resources and environment so they can deliver a professional service, now and for decades to come. I cannot thank Congressman Menendez enough for his continued support of our profession and especially our department. He has been instrumental in securing this funding that strengthens our department today and safeguards the community for years to come."

The funding, secured by Congressman Menendez through the annual appropriations process, will address urgent capital infrastructure needs across multiple fire stations to ensure the safety and operational readiness of first responders and to improve emergency service delivery to over 210,000 residents.

Congressman Menendez secured $1,410,000 for this project through the appropriations process as part of $19,142,000 in federal funding that he is delivering for our communities this fiscal year.

Menendez will continue working to bring federal funding and resources home to support projects that improve the quality-of-life for residents and strengthen local communities.
