Last week, I attended the Northwest Municipal Conference's annual Legislative Days in Springfield. Meeting with state legislators and reviewing the state budget is a key part of staying informed about decisions that directly affect our community. It's a reminder of how much state government shapes the programs and services we rely on in Des Plaines, and why it's important for residents to participate in the democratic process.
With that in mind, expanded early voting for the primary election begins on Monday, March 2. See below for locations, hours, and voter registration information.
March also brings several upcoming City events. On Saturday, March 14, the Des Plaines Youth Commission is hosting its annual Fun Fair from 4 to 7 p.m. at Prairie Lakes Community Center. The event features live entertainment, face painting, and other family-friendly activities, making it a great outing for younger members of our community.
Later in the month, on Saturday, March 28, we are hosting another Shred Event at the Public Works facility on Joseph J. Schwab Road. The event is open only to City residents, and should be the perfect opportunity to get a head start on spring cleaning.
