Criminal Justice Discovery Day event to be held April 4

Waynesburg University will host a Criminal Justice Discovery Day event on Saturday, April 4. The event will serve as an exploratory workshop for high school students interested in criminal justice.

The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Waynesburg University Center for Criminal Justice and Forensic Investigation. Registration is required; click here to register now.

Throughout the day, participants will have the opportunity to review simulated crime scenes and experience the only University-based patrol driving simulator in the country. Other topics include firearm safety, verbal de-escalation and the safe use of force. Students will utilize the Multiple Integrated Learning Objective (MILO) simulators to learn and discuss these techniques.

"Discovery Day will give students an idea about what criminal justice careers really involve and will also acclimate them to the career paths that might be available to them if they attend Waynesburg University," said Dr. Kenneth Cairns, department chair and associate professor of criminal justice and social sciences, and associate professor of graduate studies in criminal investigation.

All students will receive lunch while on campus.
