"For nearly 150 years, Alberta's police and peace officers have answered the call to serve with courage, professionalism and unwavering dedication. Today, we honour the 106 officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty since 1876. Their sacrifice is a solemn reminder of the risks police and peace officers take every day to protect the safety and well-being of our communities.

"These men and women gave everything to uphold the safety of others. Though we can never fully repay the debt we owe, we honour their memory by reflecting on their bravery and reaffirming the values they stood for: duty, integrity and service.

"Police and Peace Officers' Memorial Day is also a time to recognize the devastating loss experienced by the families, friends and colleagues of the fallen. Behind every officer are loved ones who bear the immense weight of the job's demands. Their strength and support are essential, and we acknowledge their sacrifice today as well.

"We are deeply appreciative of the courage and commitment of every officer who continues to serve today. You meet every challenge with unwavering strength and conviction, making our communities safer every day. On behalf of all Albertans, thank you. We are deeply grateful for your service, and we will never forget the sacrifice of those who gave their lives in the pursuit of a stronger and safer Alberta."
