WYDOT crews finish paving, will be conducting striping and shoulder work on WYO 22

JACKSON, Wyo. The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) and contract crews from Avail Valley Construction have wrapped up paving operations on sections of Wyoming State Highway 22 in Teton County and will begin grinding some rough areas starting this Sunday evening, Sept. 13. The grinding work is scheduled to last for 2-3 nights. Drivers should expect to see short areas of single-lane traffic between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. with short delays.

Crews will also be working on the roadside shoulders, grading and installing delineators in the following weeks during daytime hours. Traffic will be open to two lanes of travel and drivers should not be impacted by the work. Striping operations are scheduled for the week of Sept. 21. Striping operations will be underway during daytime hours. Due to the temperatures needed for quality paint adherence, crews must perform the work during the day.

WYDOT would like to remind drivers to be aware of the striping trucks on the road during that time and to slow down accordingly. Stripers travel at reduced speeds while applying the paint and travel with a shadow car, which watches for traffic in the area. Drivers are urged to not follow stripers too closely and only pass when it is safe to do so. Drivers should be aware that driving over wet paint can reduce the reflectivity of the markings, as well as stick to your vehicle.

No work for paving or striping will take place as part of this project in the downtown Wilson area as the County's pathway project is active and will be through next summer.

The work is part of a district wide roadway patching project that involves milling and placing asphalt pavement on WYO 22 at various locations in Teton County. The project completion date is set for Oct. 31, 2026. The schedule is weather dependent and subject to change.
