Looking back on the week, two events stood out. Firstly, our side event "Harder, Better, Funded, Stronger," which we hosted on 28 April in collaboration with RANNÍS - The Icelandic Centre for Research. EU Ambassador to Iceland, Clara Ganslandt, opened the event to a full house and discussed how Icelandic innovation plays a major role in a European context and the importance of further strengthening these ties, including through the many EU programmes in which Iceland takes part.
The second highlight was the panel discussion the Ambassador participated in, on 29 April, with the theme "How Small Nations Navigate Growing Attention," alongside Þórdís Kolbrún Reykfjörð Gylfadóttir, former Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Ellert Arnarson, CFO of Amaroq, moderated by Runno Allikivi.
The panel offered a forward-looking discussion on the Arctic's growing geopolitical importance, how Iceland and Greenland are navigating the opportunities and responsibilities that come with increased global attention, and the EU's continued commitment to strengthening cooperation. As highlighted by the Ambassador: "The EU has a longstanding cooperation with the Arctic states, and its importance has been highlighted by recent geopolitical developments and climate change."
