Rosa Parks Circle Ice Rink set to open Friday

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The opening of the Rosa Parks Circle Ice Rink for the 2025-2026 winter season is set for tomorrow, Friday, Dec. 5 - weather permitting. Located in the heart of downtown Grand Rapids, 135 Monroe Center St. NW, the Rosa Parks Circle Ice Rink offers families and friends the opportunity to create lasting memories throughout winter as they enjoy outdoor ice skating under the city lights.

The rink is open daily through February 27. Regular operating hours and any weather-related changes to those are posted on the Grand Rapids Parks and Recreation Facebook page, at grandrapidsmi.gov/skating and on the closure hotline at 616-456-3699.

"The ice rink at Rosa Parks Circle is a good way for all ages and abilities to get outside and enjoy a classic winter activity," said Sam Truby, ice rink manager and head of the department's GR Outside program. "Our team is putting the finishing touches on a new trailer for admission and rentals, sharpening new skates, and getting everything ready to welcome guests. We're looking forward to another great skating season."

Admission prices for the 2025-2026 season are as follows:

• Adults (18 and up): $6 (includes skate rental)
• Youth (17 and under): $3 (includes skate rental)

For frequent visitors, a punch card will be available. Additionally, skaters can plan their visit in advance with 50 reserved spots available for each skating session (limit six skaters per reservation). A reservation allows priority access before walk-up traffic during the reservation arrival window. Online reservations are open now, check grandrapidsmi.gov/skating for details & updates.
