Santa Rosa County BOCC Meeting Highlights
Proclamation for Disability Employment Awareness Month and Exceptional Employers
The Board of County Commissioners of Santa Rosa County signed a proclamation recognizing two local businesses, Gulf Breeze Hospital Project SEARCH and Perfect Blend Coffee, for their exceptional example of a workplace that hires people with disabilities. These businesses welcome the talents of all people, including people with disabilities, and are a critical part of our efforts to build a community with a strong economy. These proclamations were brought forward to celebrate October 2024 marking the 79th anniversary of National Disability Employment Awareness Month.

Blackwater Streamgage Grant Award
The board approved accepting the Coastal Partnership Initiative Award of $15,000 from FDEP's Florida Coastal Management Program and approval to execute two agreements; one between SRC and FDEP and the
second, with USGS.

Capital Funds for Improvements
The board approved a Local Funding Agreement, Escrow Agreement, and resolution associated with signal
improvements to be included with FDOT's State Road 87 resurfacing project between Highway 98 and East Bay Boulevard.

Highlights from Oct. 7 BOCC Meeting
2024 Peanut Butter Challenge is underway!
At the end of the collection period, the jars are tallied, bragging rights are awarded to counties collecting the most peanut butter, and the jars go to local food pantries just in time for the holiday season.

Waiver of Landfill Disposal Fees from WMA
Approval to waive disposal fees at the Central Landfill for animal carcasses from the Blackwater Forest (Wildlife Management Area) WMA Game Cleaning Station during the hunting season from October 2024
to March 2025.
