Get ready to celebrate a literary talent from Oregon. In March, Hillsboro Reads will showcase Tilt by Portland author, Emma Pattee.
Recently listed on Scientific American's list of the Best Fiction of 2025, Pattee's debut novel is getting a lot of attention, and the Hillsboro Public Library is excited to focus on Tilt - the gripping story of survival and resilience after a massive 9.0 earthquake strikes the Pacific Northwest.

Hillsboro Public Library is excited to welcome Emma Pattee, author of Tilt, for a special author talk that kicks off Hillsboro Reads. Made possible by the Library Foundation of Hillsboro, this event invites readers to come together to hear from the author, explore the novel's themes, and celebrate the shared joy of reading as a community.
Emma Pattee is a climate journalist and fiction writer who has been published in The Atlantic, the New York Times, The Washington Post, The Guardian, and more. Hillsboro Public Library offers in-person programs and discussions inspired by the themes of Tilt during Hillsboro Reads. Programs include workshops on building a family emergency plan and Go-Kit essentials, as well as discussions on the Cascadia Subduction Zone, mental health, knot tying, and more.
