In the coming days, Assembly members will announce new legislation aimed at further holding the federal government and ICE agents accountable for violence and criminal actions.
"No more murders in our streets by out-of-control federal agents. No more armed men in masks detaining five-year-old boys. No more saying that peaceful protesters are 'domestic terrorists.' No more chaos and violence in our cities. This has to stop, and it must stop now. I'm calling on our national Democratic leaders to stand resolutely against this President. And if that means shutting down the federal government, then so be it: Shut it down."
On January 24, federal immigration agents fatally shot 37-year-old Minneapolis resident and U.S. citizen Pretti, a dedicated ICU nurse who cared for veterans and was a respected member of his community. Pretti is the second American killed in Minneapolis this monthby ICE agents, following the January 7 shooting of Renee Good.
