Input Sought for Atlantic & Yadkin Greenway Bridge Replacement

The City of Greensboro is seeking input on the design for the Atlantic & Yadkin (A&Y) Greenway trestle bridge replacement project. Residents may submit feedback through this online survey by Saturday, February 28.

Due to an engineering structural assessment, the northern trestle bridge over Lake Brandt was closed in October of 2023. This project is comprised of construction of a new greenway bridge, reconstruction of the greenway surrounding the bridge at Strawberry Road and Bur-Mil Park, and an improved greenway crossing at Strawberry Road.

Design work began in January of 2025. Preliminary plans have been completed, and the design is nearly 65 percent finished. Construction is anticipated to begin in the fall of 2026 with project completion projected for the fall of 2027.

The new bridge will feature PermaTrak, a durable concrete boardwalk system designed specifically for pedestrian bridge projects. Residents may weigh in on their preference for surfaces, colors, and railing types.
