On 28 April 2026, Mrs. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, welcomed H.E. Mr. Khalil Yaqoob AlKhayat, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to Thailand, on a courtesy call upon his assumption of duties.
Both sides noted with satisfaction the close and cordial ties between Thailand and Bahrain and discussed plans to convene the 4th High Joint Commission (HJC) Meeting on bilateral cooperation between Thailand and Bahrain, to be co-chaired by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of both countries, which Thailand is ready to host. They explored ways to further promote bilateral relations in areas of mutual interest.
Both sides also exchanged views on the situation in the Middle East. The Permanent Secretary expressed concern over the situation in the region and support for all parties to pursue a peaceful resolution, in line with the principles of international law, the Charter of the United Nations, and freedom of navigation. She also conveyed appreciation to Bahrain for the measures taken to ensure the safety and well-being of Thai nationals in Bahrain, as well as for facilitating their return to Thailand.
