Nevada Attorney General's Office Highlights Role in Protecting Election Integrity Ahead of Election Day

Carson City, NV - Ahead of the Nov. 3 general election, the Nevada Attorney General's Office is reminding Nevadans of its role in enforcing election laws, protecting voters from intimidation and interference and safeguarding the integrity of the state's elections.

"Every eligible Nevadan should be able to exercise their right to vote without fear of intimidation or unlawful interference," said Attorney General Ford. "Our office is committed to enforcing election laws and protecting the rights of voters and election workers throughout the electoral process."

The Attorney General's Office investigates and prosecutes certain election-related offenses and represents the state in election-related legal matters. The office also works with state and local authorities, as appropriate, to address potential violations of election laws and ensure election-related concerns are directed to the appropriate agencies.

Protecting Voters and Election Workers
Nevada law prohibits voter intimidation, coercion and unlawful interference with elections. Under Nevada Revised Statutes (NRS) 293.710, it is unlawful to use threats, force or intimidation to influence a person's vote or prevent someone from exercising their voting rights. State law also protects election officials and workers from threats and interference with their duties.

These protections apply to all voters, regardless of political affiliation or candidate preference.

Reporting Election Concerns
Nevadans who experience or witness suspected voter intimidation, threats or other election-related violations are encouraged to report their concerns to the Nevada Attorney General's Office at (775) 684-1100 or (702) 486-3420. For immediate threats or emergencies, call 911.

Early voting continues through Friday, Oct. 30. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3 with polling locations open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
