WASHINGTON - Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Commissioner Olivia Trusty visited Kansas on Saturday at the invitation of U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) - a member of the Senate Commerce Subcommittee on Telecommunications and Media - to meet with telecommunications providers and radio and television broadcasters from across Kansas. During the visit, Commissioner Trusty participated in a roundtable discussion held at WTC Fiber in Wamego to hear from telecommunications providers about their efforts to serve Kansans with reliable, high-speed internet and issues facing providers across Kansas, toured WTC Fiber's broadband deployment site in Maple Hill and visited the WIBW studio in Topeka to speak with broadcasters about challenges facing the industry and their work to serve local communities.
"I appreciate Commissioner Trusty coming to our state and spending time with Kansas leaders in technology, telecommunications and broadcasting," said Sen. Moran. "While I was unable to join her in Kansas due to votes in the Senate over the weekend, I am grateful she accepted my invitation to hear directly from local leaders and industry members about their work to connect Kansans and provide news and information to our communities. Federal, state and private investments in broadband infrastructure are essential to delivering reliable, high-speed internet for all Kansans and Americans. Thank you to the Communications Coalition of Kansas, WTC Fiber, the Kansas Association of Broadcasters and WIBW, as well as all the providers and broadcasters that participated in these events, for welcoming Commissioner Trusty to Kansas."
