A groundbreaking account of Sherman's March to the Sea - the critical Civil War campaign that destroyed the Confederacy - told for the first time from the perspective of the tens of thousands of enslaved people who fled to the Union lines and transformed Sherman's march into the biggest liberation event in American history. Dr. Bennett Parten, assistant professor of History at Georgia Southern University, will discuss his new book "Somewhere Toward Freedom," which Simon & Schuster has recently released.
Co-sponsored by The Center for Georgia Studies and the Honors College.
The talk will take place in Mayfair Hal on March 2 from 5:30 until 6:30 p.m.
