Convicted Felon Sentenced To Extra Year In Federal Prison For Failing To Self-Surrender

BOISE - Khadijah Chapman, 62, of Georgia, was sentenced to an extra year in federal prison for failing to self-surrender for a prison sentence, U.S. Attorney John C. Shirts announced today.

According to court records, a Grand Jury indicted Chapman for bank fraud in 2022 for fraudulently obtaining Paycheck Protection Program funds during the COVID-19 pandemic. A jury convicted Chapman of the charge in 2023. In 2024, the District Court sentenced Chapman to 46 months' imprisonment for the crime but allowed Chapman to remain out-of-custody and self-surrender to federal prison on a later date. Chapman, however, intentionally failed to surrender to Federal Prison Camp Alderson in West Virginia on the date required, and the United States Marshals Service arrested Chapman approximately two months later in Las Vegas, Nevada. Chief U.S District Judge Amanda K. Brailsford sentenced Chapman to an additional year of imprisonment to run consecutively to her initial prison sentence.

U.S. Attorney Shirts commended the work of the United States Marshal Service, which led to the charge, and the efforts of Assistant U.S. Attorneys Sean Mazorol and Robert Firpo, who prosecuted the case.
