Contra Costa County - Caltrans, in collaboration with the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) and the Bay Area Toll Authority (BATA), is pleased to announce a temporary modification to the schedule for the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge (RSRB) bicycle and pedestrian path on westbound I-580.
The RSRB bike path will reopen on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, providing extra access for cyclists and pedestrians due to operational needs. Please note Caltrans maintenance will perform moving lane closures in the westbound direction across the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge (RSRB) I-580, for moveable barrier repositioning and sweeping operations between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM.
After this special opening, the path will return to its usual weekly hours:
To ensure continued access for non-motorized travelers, a free shuttle service will continue to transport bicyclists and pedestrians across the bridge between 6:00 AM and 8:00 PM on days when the path is closed.
